Enrichment

At the Latimer Arts College we are proud of the opportunities that we offer our students that enrich the curriculum.  We passionately believe that participation in enrichment activities place a significant contribution to personal growth and high academic achievement.  That is why we do our best to provide a range of extended opportunities throughout the academic year (and beyond where we can!)

These activities provide students with the opportunity to display the College's values of Honesty, Excellence, Ambition, Respect and Teamwork, which we also foster through our House system, through which healthy and friendly competition is encouraged.

Our students, staff and governors are all members of one of our four Houses, names of which were chosen through a stakeholder collaboration, with each House being named after an individual who is an inspiration in their field, many of whom were locally based:

Attenborough House: Named after David Attenborough, English broadcaster, writer, and naturalist who is a passionate campaigner for action to be taken against Climate Change.  He grew up in Leicester.

Gilbert House: Named after Sarah Gilbert, who designed the Oxford Covid-19 vaccine.  She was born and went to school in Kettering.

Kahlo House: Named after Frida Kahlo (6 July 1907 – 13 July 1954), a Mexican painter who overcame illness and injury to become a renowned artist, whose work students study as part of their Art and Design curriculum.

Tull House: Named after Lieutenant Walter Tull (1888 – 1918) who fought on the Somme in 1916 and became the first black combat officer in the British army.  He was also a professional footballer for Northampton Town.   He overcame the prejudices of the time to exceed in his sporting career and his army life.
