In order to implement our curriculum principles effectively, we are committed to delivering Quality First Teaching for all. We have adopted the ‘WalkThrus’ professional development programme, designed by Tom Sherrington and Oliver Caviglioli with the aim of securing consistently high Quality First Teaching.
It is also important to all at The Latimer Arts College that we have shared understanding of the evidence base for which our curriculum in implemented. Therefore, our professional development cycle for teaching staff currently centres on having a proficient understanding of the following:
- Rosenshine’s Principles of Instruction
- Ron Berger’s ‘An Ethic of Excellence’
- Shimamura’s’ MARGE Model’ (Motivate, Attend, Relate, Generate, Evaluate): A Whole-Brain Learning Approach for Students and Teachers
- Cognitive Load Theory
