|
Independent Careers Advice |
The College provides in-school guidance and independent advice from external consultants, to ensure our students receive the impartial advice that they need.
Our Independent Careers Advisor is a professionally trained careers guidance practitioner.
As part of our careers programme, Year 11 students are provided with a one to one guidance interviews with a qualified careers advisor. Parents and carers are welcome to attend these meetings.
Students in Years 7-10 can request a careers guidance interview by e-mailing careers@latimer.org.uk |
Monitoring and Evaluation |
The Careers team meet on a regular basis to develop, monitor and evaluate the provision across the College. Provision is also monitored through regular feedback from students, staff, parents and carers and our partners.
External provision is monitored and evaluated through the College’s Quality Assurance procedures including observations, work sampling and student voice.
The effectiveness of our careers and raising aspiration activities will be assessed using the Gatsby benchmarks and attainment and destination data for students. Success will be reflected in higher numbers progressing to apprenticeships, universities, traineeships and other positive destinations such as employment or a further education college. Destination data (DfE) will be used to assess how successfully students make the transition into the next stage of education or training, or into employment.
The Careers team report to governors on a regular basis. A designated governor has responsibility for overseeing the quality of this programme. |
How the College measures and assesses the impact of its careers programme on the students |
The College measures the impact of the careers programme using the “The eight Gatsby benchmarks of Good Career Guidance” through the Career and Enterprise Compass Tool. The programme is evaluated twice a year.
Gatsby benchmarks:
1. A stable careers programme 2. Learning from career and labour market information 3. Addressing the needs of each pupil 4. Linking curriculum learning to careers 5. Encounters with employers and employees 6. Experiences of workplaces 7. Encounters with further and higher education 8. Personal guidance |
Access to providers of technical education and apprenticeships |
The College will encourage providers of technical education and apprenticeships to inform students about the varied career options open to them and courses and qualifications they offer and what each option entails. This will allow students to consider how the opportunity to study or train in different ways, and in different environments, might suit their skills, interests and aptitudes. Our Provider Access Policy Statement can be accessed in our Policies page and details how access will be provided.
All students in Years 8-13 will be entitled:
