This information relates to the delivery of careers guidance to Year 8 to 13 pupils in accordance with Section 42A of the Education Act 1997 and Section 72 of the Education and Skills Act 2008.

Independent Careers Advice |
The College provides in-school guidance and independent advice from external consultants, to ensure our students receive the impartial advice that they need. Our Independent Careers Advisor is a professionally trained careers guidance practitioner. As part of our careers programme, Year 11 students are provided with a one to one guidance interviews with a qualified careers advisor. Parents and carers are welcome to attend these meetings. Students in Years 7-10 can request a careers guidance interview by e-mailing Ms Michelle O'Brien: mobrien@latimer.org.uk |

How the College measures and assesses the impact of its careers programme on the students. |
The College measures the impact of the careers programme using the “The eight Gatsby benchmarks of Good Career Guidance” through the Career and Enterprise Compass Tool. The programme is evaluated twice a year. Gatsby benchmarks: 1. A stable careers programme 2. Learning from career and labour market information 3. Addressing the needs of each pupil 4. Linking curriculum learning to careers 5. Encounters with employers and employees 6. Experiences of workplaces 7. Encounters with further and higher education 8. Personal guidance |
Access to providers of technical education and apprenticeships |
The College will encourage providers of technical education and apprenticeships to inform students about the varied career options open to them and courses and qualifications they offer and what each option entails. This will allow students to consider how the opportunity to study or train in different ways, and in different environments, might suit their skills, interests and aptitudes. The National Careers Service provides information, advice and guidance to help students make decisions on learning, training and work opportunities. The service offers confidential and impartial advice and is supported by qualified careers advisers. A student can chat with an adviser using web chat (8am to 10pm, 7days a week) or can call 0800 100 900 to speak to an adviser (8am to 10pm, 7 days a week). Calls are free from landlines and most mobile numbers. icould provides career inspiration and information for young people through free access to over 1000 personal video stories, detailed job information, plus practical tips, insight and advice. Plotr is a careers site aimed at 11-24 year olds. ‘Whether you’ve got a career in mind or you haven’t got a clue, Plotr can help you discover your future and guide you to careers you could be great at. Play the Game to discover careers that match your personality, interests and skills.’ The National Apprenticeship Service website offers guidance on how to apply for an apprenticeship as well as listing current local apprenticeship opportunities. More information on apprenticeships can be found at http://amazingapprenticeships.com. CareersBox is a free online library of careers related videos, news and information. UCAS Progress is an online search and application tool for post 16 courses. Careers Advice for Parents aims to give parents and carers an easy-to-read overview of all the essential facts on finding jobs and apprenticeships or choosing further and higher education courses which could make a real difference to their child's future career prospects. Parental Guidance offers advice and information on all aspects of the process of career choice for young people aged 13 to 25. Future Morph for careers in STEM subjects. In addition, 'All About School Leavers' has published Ultimate Guide for School Leavers. As well as including information on apprenticeships, school leaver programmes and sponsored degrees, it also includes breakdowns of key industries and the different career paths into them.
