On Tuesday 29th April year 10 students studying GCSE History were given the opportunity to visit The Galleries of Justice in Nottingham. This directly supported their study of Crime and Punishment and gave them a hands-on experience of the history of law and order in the UK. The History Trip to the Galleries of Justice, was a thoroughly educational and interesting experience. The trip included many activities including a Mock Trail, which we acted out a case from the 1800s, a tour around a Police Station, identifying objects and weapons from that particular time, and a tour around an exercise yard in which we had to live out real exercises. We really enjoyed the trip because unlike most museums, you were able to participate which allowed the learning to be fun and more taken in. J Stephenson- Glynn 10KC I really enjoyed the trip to the Nottingham Gallery of Justice Museum, because although it was educational, it was also presented in a fun way. In particular, my favourite part of the trip was the mock trial. We could take part in the trial, as a judge, witness, or member of the jury for example, or just watch. This was my favourite part of the trip because it showed everyone exactly what a 19th century trial was like, first hand. I also enjoyed visiting the cells that were used. S Gett 10CT
