Talent Focus: Sophie Wrigley

I have always really enjoyed participating in the arts and performing at the college in addition to my extracurricular dance activities in a local dance school. Dancing has always been a large part of my life and I got a place into the college through an arts placement.

My very first involvement in drama was in year 7, where I was a dancer in the Billy Elliot production. Being involved in the show and seeing the workings of a larger scale production was great fun as we also went to see the show in the West End of London to see a professional performance of the show. It was spectacular!

In year 9, I auditioned to be in the KS3 show of ‘Blood Brothers’ and was selected to play the character ‘Mrs Lyons’ which involved pure acting rather than dance or singing.

I have also played the part of 'Tiger-Lily' in the professional production of ‘Peter Pan Pantomime’ at the Lighthouse Theatre in Kettering. It was a hugely enjoyable experience to be working on stage with celebrity actors and they made me feel very welcome and encouraged me a great deal.

The college was really supportive allowing me to take time off to rehearse and to perform, and it was great to see the college perform the vocal ensemble on the opening night.

I have thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the above shows and hope I get the opportunity to take part in future performances.
