Prospectus and Admissions

Year 7 Admissions Policy September 2020

Our proposed Admissions Policy for 2020 intake is open for consultation.

We propose to make a change to our oversubscription criteria in that we propose to add a criterion that gives priority to the children of staff who work at the college:

‘Children of staff where that member of staff has been employed at the college for two or more years at the time at which the application for admission to the college is made, and/or the member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage in the area.’

We propose to insert this as oversubscription criterion 3.

Our rationale for this is that we are keen to ensure that our students have continuity in their education and that the quality of education that we provide is excellent.  Given the challenges in education in terms of recruiting high-quality staff (especially teachers) retaining our staff becomes all the more important.

If we are able to support our staff by providing a place for their children, we will be making a strong contribution to their work-life balance and this in turn will support both recruitment and retention.

The consultation period for changes to admission arrangements for 2020 intakes will be Monday 12 November 2018 – Tuesday 8 January 2019.

Following this, our finalised policy will be published in January 2019.

Those wishing to comment can do so by contacting Northamptonshire County Council.
